A new series of monthly videos will help young Gaels and other Scots build up their knowledge brick by LEGO brick.
The new animated retelling of the Parable of the Good Samaritan is the first of six videos to be released each month by specialist animation studio Go Chatter.
Thanks to support from the Church of Scotland and its partner agencies, Gaelic development agency Bòrd na Gàidhlig, and the Society in Scotland for Propagating Christian Knowledge (SSPCK) – publisher of the first Gaelic Bible – these videos will be available free to schools, churches and parents as a gift to Scotland's children.
Introducing well-known Bible tales in a fun and accessible way, other stories featured in the series include David and Goliath, Jonah, and the resurrection of Lazarus and follow previous releases covering Christmas and Easter.
Each video comes with teaching notes aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence and instructions enabling young viewers to recreate a scene from the video with their own LEGO bricks.
The Gaelic version has been produced with the assistance of Proiseact Pentecostes, an initiative managed by the Church of Scotland Gaelic committee and supported by the Gaelic Hub based at Uig Parish Church on the Isle of Lewis.
Roddy John MacLeod, Lord MacLeod of Minginish, convener of the Church of Scotland Gaelic group, commented: "The last couple of years have seen the appearance of a number of new, imaginative and attractive Bible resources for use with Gaelic-speaking or Gaelic-learning youngster in homes, schools and churches.
"Prominent among these has been the Gaelic adaptation of Go Chatter's Lego videos, using Lego materials to tell Bible stories and the message of the Gospel on video and accompanied by notes for teachers and instructions allowing children to make their own Lego sets. Children are absolutely captivated by these and they have also met with a warm welcome for parents and teachers, who are eager for more.
"I am delighted, therefore, that another eight videos are planned to be released monthly through to the summer of 2026. If we believe that the Bible has relevance in our day, we must find contemporary ways of expressing its messages. Go Chatter and those who have worked on the Gaelic versions of their videos – including SSPCK, which published the first Gaelic Bible in 1766 and is now finding new ways of sharing God's Word for the 21st century – are to be warmly congratulated on achieving that."
Each video can be downloaded free for use in homes, schools and by church groups at:
English language versions will also be available soon.
