Faith Action Programme, committees, councils and departments
The Church of Scotland's day-to-day policy-making and practical decision-making at local, national, and international levels are organised through the Faith Action Programme and committees.
Faith Action Programme Leadership Team
The Faith Action Programme Leadership Team exists to enable the equipping of people across the church to live out the mission of God. The Leadership Team will deliver the objectives of the Faith Action Programme over a five-year period. You can read more here.
It has a number of Programme Groups which carry out detailed decision-making for all facets of national church life:
- Mission Support
- People and Training
- Public Life and Social Justice
- Resource and Presence
- Presbytery Partnership Support (incorporating PMPIG)
Committees
- Assembly Business - Organising the annual General Assembly of the Church of Scotland
- Audit Committee - Advises and assists the Assembly Trustees in the oversight of financial reporting, systems of internal control and risk management
- Church Art and Architecture - Provides advice on renovations and alterations to Church buildings
- Ecumenical Relations Committee - Encouraging local, national and international work with other denominations
- Forces Chaplains Committee - Supporting our ministers and those dedicated to the spiritual well-being of the women and men of the Armed Forces
- Legal Questions Committee - Advising the General Assembly on questions of Church and constitutional law
- Nomination Committee - Bringing before the General Assembly the names of those to serve on councils and committees
- Registration of Ministries Committee - Deals with applications related to the Registration of Ministry
- Theological Forum - Resourcing, expressing and challenging the theology that informs the life and work of the Church
