Kirk members encouraged to take part in Scottish Interfaith Week
Published on 5 November 2019
Church members across the country are being encouraged to take part in Scottish Interfaith week from Sunday 10 until Sunday 17 November.
Rt Rev Colin Sinclair, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, said: "There is a great enrichment to be found in meeting with, listening to and learning from people of other faiths.
"Together we can help ensure that bridges not barriers exist between us. Interfaith week helps us make such meaningful contacts.
"To mark the week, I'll be walking with the Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese St Andrews and Edinburgh, from St Mary's Catholic Cathedral in Edinburgh to Annandale Mosque."
This year, the annual event will see communities come together for workshops, talks and discussions themed around 'Eat Share Love'.
Mirella Yandoli, the Church of Scotland's interfaith officer said: "Interfaith week offers a rare chance for communities to step outside of the familiar and explore life from another community's perspective.
"With this year's theme of Eat, Share Love we have a focus that can appeal to members of all communities, given that food is often at the centre of community life.
"People can open up to trying new things as well as learning about themselves as well as others. I hope that church members across the country are hosting as well as being hosted, so that they can make a mark on a week which will be full of stories of sharing and eating together."
