Assembly Trustees Update - 13 August 2026
The Assembly Trustees met in 121 George Street on 13 August.
Decisions made
Future of shop unit, 123 George Street, agreed: After further discussion, an agreement has been reached with Palcraft to ensure their continued use of the shop unit at 123 George Street.
Updates
Finances: Work to develop a sustainable model of funding ministry has commenced to ensure our income covers costs and resources are used in the most appropriate fashion.
Seeds for Growth review: A framework for the evaluation of the Seeds for Growth programme has been agreed and the review is to commence in August. It will include an evaluation of existing projects to ensure an appropriate use of resources and input from unsuccessful applicants for a rounded assessment of the programme.
Replacement for Life and Work: A survey has been issued to assess responses for a replacement for Life and Work. Early indications are encouraging with a positive response to the survey to date. Proposals will be forthcoming once the survey has concluded.
Discussion highlights
Growth: A short presentation was given to the Trustees by FAPLT leadership on proposals to advance the growth strategy with the Assembly Trustees. The aim is to work with the Trustees on the growth strategy and inspire congregations with the prospect of growth.
As part of FAPLT's remit, a report on EDI and the ongoing work to embed these principles within the work of the Church will be prepared for the September meeting of the AT's.
Crossreach: Members of the CrossReach Board gave a presentation to the Assembly Trustees on its work with older people, adults, children and families, and addiction services. Significant challenges lie ahead; however, an improvement in governance and communications with the Church ensures a useful exchange in ideas to underpin a strategy for growth.
