New book examines how the Church of Scotland can reform from strength to strength

16 July

family session

A new book that examines how the Church of Scotland can positively respond to the challenges it faces is being launched.

‘Stirred By The Storm’ has been written by Rev Ian Gilmour and the late Rev Bill Clinkenbeard.

The authors encourage elders and ministers to recover their confidence and faith to look beyond the current predicament of the Church of Scotland – fewer ministers and members, dwindling finances and increasing disconnect from local communities – by highlighting vibrant and successful models of church in other countries.

They use examples of “hopeful” Christians who have overcome trials and tribulations to make a real difference in the wider world.

Copies of the book can be bought at the Cornerstone Bookshop on St John’s Church Terrace, Princes Street in Edinburgh.

The sale proceeds will be donated to the international charity, Water Aid, at the behest of Mr Clinkenbeard.

When: 16 July at 7.30pm

Where: former St Andrew's and St George's West Church (now known as The New Town Church) at 13 George Street in Edinburgh.
