Graeme Caughey

Graeme Caughey

Born in Glasgow, Graeme was educated locally in Rutherglen before completing his actuarial studies at Heriot Watt University. Graeme qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 1999 and has served as an examiner in their investment subjects.

Graeme is an investment professional specialising in fixed income. He offers consultant services on investment issues to commercial clients.

He is Chairperson of the Pension Trustees, having previously gained three years' experience as Vice Chair. In this role he has led collaborative discussions with representatives from the Employing Agencies to successfully conclude the 2015 and 2018 actuarial valuations. He has also played a key role for the Trustees overseeing the implementation of new pensions administration system and review of benefits and Scheme Rules.

He was appointed as an Employer Nominated Trustee by the General Assembly of 2011 and re-appointed by the General Assembly in 2017. He served as Chair of the Investment Committee for five years and has overseen transformational change of the Schemes' investment strategy.

Married to Rachel, they are members at St Michael's Inveresk where Graeme serves as an elder. They have two teenage sons with whom they enjoy active family holidays. When not watching his sons on hockey pitches, Graeme is a keen golfer and adult learner of the bagpipes.
