Kirk minister to run equivalent of Glasgow to Inverness for Christian Aid

A Church of Scotland minister is running the equivalent distance of Glasgow to Inverness over 30 days to raise money for Christian Aid.

Rev Dr Martin Johnstone
Rev Dr Martin Johnstone is running a total of 300km over 30 days for Christian Aid.

Rev Dr Martin Johnstone, who previouly worked at the Kirk's administrative office and is now a trustee of Christian Aid, has so far completed more than 150 km, which is half of the total distance of the challenge.

Explaining why he decided to undertake the ambitious run as part of Christian Aid Week (May 10-16), the Glasgow based minister said: “We are all made in the image of God, we are all precious but many of us are struggling right now.

“All of our lives have been impacted by coronavirus but the poorest and most vulnerable are struggling and suffering the most.

“This Christian Aid Week, I am trying to do my little bit to support people and communities where people were already going hungry, where the health service is already under enormous pressure, and where soap and running water is a luxury.

“As I make my way around the streets and parks close to my home on the southside of Glasgow, I find myself thinking about friends and neighbour who live nearby but also of friends and neighbours across the world.”
