Kirkliston Parish Church has organised the 'Picnic and Praise' day for Sunday 1 August at Carlowrie Castle, a picturesque setting which is popular as a wedding venue.

Rev Erick du Toit, who is the minister of the church, said: "The event is not only for the village but anyone who wishes to join in a day of fun and laughter as we celebrate a life of abundance within Christ.

"We've also collaborated with Edinburgh City Mission and a bus will help people who might not be able to attend otherwise to join in the celebration.

"We're hoping to reach around 500 people on the day, from all walks of life.

"There will be entertainment for children, live worship music, and picnic baskets for sale; many of these sponsored to support those in need.

"Thanks to Andrew Marshall, Jen Cusick and Keith Taylor at Carlowrie Castle who put in a lot of time and effort to make this happen, and without their vision and input the day would not have been possible."

The day is designed to be a joyous new expression of faith and will have a lively mixture of events and activities including bouncy castles, face painting, crafts and lots of live music.

Food and drinks will be available on site, and there will be picnic bags available for £5 or people are encouraged to bring their own picnic.
