Schools Ministry Training
The Church of Scotland recognises many exciting opportunities to share the good news of Jesus through connections with schools. From the annual congregational statistics, it is very encouraging to see that 723 congregations across Scotland support schools in some way.
Many ministers are active as school chaplains. Some congregations have paid staff who connect with schools regularly and others have volunteers who are committed to schools’ ministry, in a variety of ways.
We would like to invite you to a 1 day training course on Schools Ministry. This will explore the missiological opportunity to build strong partnerships with local schools. We will gain an understanding of the Scottish educational context and curriculum and get practical insights in key areas of engagement and building supportive relationships with pupils and staff, contribution to Time for Reflection and the curriculum as well as pastoral care and support.
This is a great opportunity for those involved in schools to develop their understanding and skills and be better equipped to make impact in the context of schools. This could be part of your training or Continuing Professional Development.
‘It is so important to show God’s love in whatever way the school requires it, because in doing so, we are able to show Christ’s love in really practical ways in our community’.
This event will run from 10am to 4.00pm, with good screen breaks.
This training is run by the Church of Scotland Education and Schools Group and will be led by education and chaplaincy specialists.
