Become an Assembly Trustee
Can you bring your professional expertise and passion for the Church to a rewarding role as an Assembly Trustee? Would you like to share your skills & knowledge to serve on a recently created body within the Church of Scotland?
The first Assembly Trustees took up office on 1 June 2019 and we have been on a fast-moving journey ever since. Our virtual GA 2020 has given authority to the planning undertaken by Dave Kendall, our Chief Officer, and the Trustees look forward to supporting him in the delivery of the Faith Action Plan. We are required to fulfil the trustee responsibilities as defined by OSCR and also to carry out instructions provided for us by the General Assembly.
We have been entrusted with the unique opportunity of streamlining many of our ways of working while moving the focus from the centre to local congregations. As a member of your local church, you will be well placed to help us ensure that we are moving in the right direction. This is an exciting and challenging time for the church and as trustees we are looking for innovative ways to enthuse and support local churches in their mission programmes.
The Trustees must maintain a wide skills base and at this point we are particularly interested in applicants with a good grasp of governance issues and/or administrative abilities. Our aim is that the make up of the Assembly Trustees reflects the membership of the Church and the interests of those we serve and so we seek to ensure we have appropriate diversity within the Assembly Trustees.
