450th Anniversarie O the First Reformed
Celebration O the Lord's Sipper i Scotland
The Church of Scotland is marking the 450th anniversary
of the Reformed celebration of the Lord's Supper at Calder
House by John Knox.

The enlarged Calder House,
incorporating that of Knox's time
The range of resources to commemorate this special
anniversary have been provided by the Scots Language
Working Group and the Gaelic Group of the Office for
Worship and Doctrine. Included is the order for the
Lord's Supper from the Book
of Common Order introduced to Scotland from Geneva
in 1560 and prescribed by the General Assemblies of
1562 and 1564. It came to be known at Knox's
Liturgy. John Carswell (1525 to 1572), minister
of Kilmartin and superintendent of Argyll, translated
it into Gaelic at his home, Carnasserie Castle.
