Relationships of Challenge - Jesus and the rich young
man
But when he heard this, he became sad; for he was very rich.
Prayer
When we make poor choices,
When we get caught up in unhealthy patterns,
When we yearn and pine for all that glitters . . .
God, help us see why that is not good.
When we feel sure we are right,
When we are self sufficient and self righteous,
When we are confident in health and wealth ...
God, help us know that we are not God.
God inspire in us today:
Faith beyond pat answers,
Motivation beyond self promotion,
Love beyond words.
Give us this day, the courage to move
Beyond our backgrounds and conditioning,
Our sadness and our unwillingness
To find costly
But rich
Adventures with you.

Hold in one hand the thought of all things of great wealth and importance to you
and in the other hand hold faith, family and friends. Reflect on the balance between
your two hands, what hand is easiest to open?
Prayer for the Church
The local councils of the Church where support is given and policies made
especially the Presbyteries, their Moderators and Clerks;
Kirk Sessions and Session Clerks; Congregational Boards,
Deacons Courts, Committees of Management and their officers.
Blessing
God beyond answers,
Lord beyond words,
Spirit beyond imagining,
Move us today.
