PRAY NOW: TODAY'S PRAYER

Companions on the road

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their toil.

Ecclesiastes 4:9

Prayer

Journeying the many twists and turns of a life and faith journey
Longing for straight pathways where the way ahead is visible and clear

Anam Cara, Soul Friend
Accompany me
Be my bread to nourish the body
My companion to nourish the soul

Journeying in one direction while everyone else seems to move in another
The cost of a prophetic voice is often a lonely pathway

Anam Cara, Soul Friend
Accompany me
Be my bread to nourish the body
My companion to nourish the soul

Journeying through the mist and fog, where dark shadows engulf
The sheer heavy weight and effort to lift one foot in front of another seems unbearable

Anam Cara, Soul Friend
Accompany me
Be my bread to nourish the body
My companion to nourish the soul

Journeying the sometimes inner turmoil or celebrating the joyous highs
You mirror and affirm within, the inner wisdom that knows God

Anam Cara, Soul Friend
Accompany me
Be my bread to nourish the body
My companion to nourish the soul

Prayer activity

So whom do you turn to when you want to reflect on aspects of your life and faith? Do you regularly spend time with a Spiritual Director or Soul Friend who will help you reflect on your prayer life and how/where God is moving in your life? Or is there a friend/companion that you turn to for a chat when needed? Reflect on the people who have accompanied you on the different stages of your faith journey - what was it about them that has helped you deepen your faith and your understanding of God?

Prayer for the Church

As we meet in local Church councils where support is given and policies made

especially your Presbytery, its clerk, moderator and work of committees. Your own elders as they meet regularly in Kirk Session and serve your congregation.

Blessing

Bread to nourish,
Friend to accompany,
Conversation to inspire,
Space to listen,
Time to reflect,
Choices to make.
Bless these gifts of the journey.
