Worship on the Web |
 |
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the dedicated Worship on the Web area of our
website where we offer an introduction to worship material,
including hymns, prayers, readings and reflections.
 |
If you are looking for a guide to
worship material for a particular life event, such
as a Baptism, wedding, funeral or blessing, visit
our life events and the Church
pages. |
| We also offer two day-by-day
resources in this section. On our Pray
Now 2008
pages we provide a new prayer for each day
of the month, while On
this day highlights key figures from history
- from celebrated poets, missionaries and theologians
to composers and church men and women from across
the ages. |
 |
You can also find a guide to Christian festivals in
this area where you can discover how and why we celebrate
certain times of the year.

How we worship: music plays an important part in our
services
We are also pleased to offer a range of worship resources
and reflections for throughout the year from the Church
of Scotland Scots Language in
Worship Group.
More than food for
thought
The Worship and Doctrine Task Group is in the process
of reflecting on the importance of Holy Communion
to the renewal of the Church. As part of this exercise,
a series of essays and papers are being produced.
Some of these are now available, by clicking
here, for your interest and information. |
 |
Holy Communion Symposium
A Symposium on Holy Communion and the Renewal of the
Church was held in Dunblane in September 2007. Some
of the speeches are now available by clicking
here, for your interest and information.
Holy Communion Roadshows
As a follow-up to the Symposium, Roadshows are planned
for Spring 2008 as follow:-
Edinburgh (Marchmont St Giles) - 15 April 2008
Hawick (St Mary's and Old) - 16 April 2008
Paisley (Paisley Abbey) - 29 April 2008
Aberdeen (Rubislaw) - 30 April 2008
Those who wish to attend will be invited to take part
in an innovative round the table consideration of the
issues relating to Communion, with three presentations
and a meeting space for listening to responses and discussion,
beginning with a meal together. They are all planned
for during the evening and it is hoped each will attract
people from all areas of the church's life. More information
on these events will be available shortly online and
through the Office
of Worship and Doctrine.
