Worship on the Web STARTERS FOR SUNDAY Scots i the Kirk i Lent LENT SYMBOL SEQUENCE This symbol sequence is set our for use as part of a (bilingual) service each Sunday in Lent. With appropriate adaptation and reordering it could be used at Holy Week services, or indeed as the thread of one particular service in Lent. Required are a large purple cloth to be unfolded over a table right down to the floor (or hung against a wall ); the five other symbols cut out of felt. The cross (red) should be large enough that when placed centrally the other four symbols (e.g. in pale blue) fit within its arms. The cloth is unfolded as the words are said, and the symbols pinned on likewise in sequence. 1) Purpie The sodgers ... cled him in a purpie mantille, efter whilk they made a ploy o comin up til him wi a "Hail, the King o Jews."
