Theme and Topic Day

The Guild's training days are run annually to help encourage local leaders and to provide them with assistance and ideas to promote the Guild's current theme.

Project Co-ordinators' Conference

This conference is run annually for Presbyterial Council Project  co-ordinators to bring them up to date with progress of the Guild projects and provide them with new information and material with which to promote them.

Educational Representatives' Conference

This conference is run to help and inspire Guild 'ed reps' in their role.

Council Conveners' Conference

This conference provides an opportunity for presbyterial council conveners to meet together and exchange ideas. A valuable chance to keep up to date with all that's happening in the Guild.

The Guild Annual Meeting

The Guild Annual Meeting 2010 will be held in September.

Guild Week

This annual event in the Guild calendar aims to inspire local Guilds to promote the work of the organisation throughout their communities. Contact us about our resources for previous years which include information, news and suggestions.

The Guild's work, and the themes and topics it looks at each year, often brings it into contact with many issues and organisations. Below is  a list of handy links to these organisations, which you may find useful.

  • Scottish Women's Convention www.scotland.gov.uk/The Guild has a seat on the newly-established steering group of the Scottish Women's Convention. Lorna Paterson, former Guild general secretary, was appointed its first chair. One of its first tasks was to provide comments on the Stringer Report into Improving the position of women in Scotland. The Guild is closely involved with all the work of the SWC - currently also the chair of its Violence against Women group. SWC policy groups are open to all who are interested.   • Arms Control www.controlarms.org/ Reflecting the Guilds continuing and long-standing concern with violence against women, this is a joint initiative by Amnesty International; the International Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and Oxfam, this website enables you to join in the call for a global reduction in the arms trade.
  • On the wings of a dove www.sites.ecosse.net As part of the Decade to Overcome Violence, On the wings of a dove is a worldwide campaign initiated by the World Council of Churches (WCC) to engage people in developing practical and pastoral responses to overcome violence against women and children. WCC material is available at this site, and Guild resources will be available here shortly.
