The latest in an acclaimed new series of Church of Scotland publications, Learn: Exploring Faith, will be launched this Thursday 22 October in St Salvator's Chapel at St Andrews University.
Rt Rev Angus Morrison will speak at the event along with two contributors to the volume: Rev Dr Donald MacEwan, Chaplain to the University; and Fiona Marks, national representative for the charity Care for the Family.
Created earlier this year to support elders and other church members in their work, the Learn series, designed in-house, has been praised for its insightful content, touchable pages and fresh design. Church leaders have called it a "game changer" saying it offers a vibrant portrait of the contemporaryChurch.
The first in the series, Learn: Eldership, was recently nominated in The Drum's 2015, Scottish Creative Awards. That issue sold out before publication and is currently on its third print run having sold more than 7,100 copies to date.
Learn: Exploring Faith has sold more than 330 copies pre-publication.
"It was a transformation in the way we approach learning in churches," said Nicola Whyte who has recently taken the reins as editor. "People are very excited about it because it is addressing real needs in the church, and the diversity of its contributors—the fact that it has lots of people contributingfrom across the church—adds real depth."
Nicola says the next three volumes in the series are already in the planning stages. They will focus on: Church Office Bearers, Pastoral Care and an Introduction to Theology.
