Westminster: Moderator's prayer to a loving God

The Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Russell Barr has responded to the Westminster attack with this statement and prayer:

 Place of Westminster
The Place of Westminster by Adrian Pingstone

London

"It has been reported that a police officer has been stabbed, the alleged assailant has been shot by armed police, a woman has been killed and others including school children have been injured.

"The House of Commons has been suspended and Westminster is in lockdown

"Clearly it is a major incident and I can only imagine it must be a terrifying experience for everyone affected.

"As the day passes there will doubtless be more detail and about who was involved and what happened and the hurt and pain it has caused

"In the meantime let me offer this simple prayer"

Loving God

We pray for all who have been involved in today’s terrible incident at Westminster

especially the family of the woman who has been killed and the people who have been hurt and injured.

We pray for the police and the emergency services as they respond to events

Surround all who have been left traumatised and afraid with Your healing presence and power

And in the darkness of this dreadful incident and all our fearfulness, bring to light the love and peace of Christ our Lord

Amen

Crown Court Church

Rev Philip Majcher, minister at Crown Court Church in London, said members of the church are at Westminster today acting as hosts to the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry, which is on display in the Palace of Westminster. The minister has been in communication with them and none of them were hurt in the attack.

He said:

"My thoughts and prayers are with the injured and with the families of everyone who was hurt in this terrible event."
