The Moderator of the General Assembly, the Rt Rev John Chalmers, is holding a charity golf day in East Lothian this Friday in support of CrossReach. Mr Chalmers has a well-known passion for golf, and the event will include a 'Beat the Moderator' challenge. The fundraising day, which is almost sold out, will benefit Children and Family Services run by Crossreach.
The Moderator will be ably assisted by two of the best known figures on the Scottish golf circuit. Mr Chalmers says it promises to be a great day out for a good cause. "Bill Lockie is one of the best teachers in Scotland and John McTear a former PGA Senior Champion, will be great company throughout the day. And at the post-tournament dinner, Bill will recount some of his tales from the world of golf and along with me, we will be running the end of day auction."
The event for teams of four starts at Craigielaw Golf Club in Aberlady at noon on Friday, with teams teeing off at 1.30pm. If you are interested in one of the final available places, more information and an entry form is available at www.crossreach.org.uk. The link includes a video about the golf event the Moderator held with pupils from Crossreach's Ballikinrain school during CrossReach week last November. There is also more information about the difference CrossReach makes through the work of its Children and Families service.
