General Assembly 21 May - 27 May 2009:
Assembly's so much tweeter when you have a twitter
AND the word was twittered. For the first time the Kirk will be twittering at the General Assembly when it meets on the Mound from Thursday.
It will give people regular updates on what business is going on at the Assembly and what stage it has reached.
The twittering will compliment the live update on the web as well as the web-cast that has been a regular online feature at the Church of Scotland for the past several years. Both are available on www.churchofscotland.org.uk/generalassembly
Twittering is a short, quick way of sending instant messages to people. The idea is that messages should answer the question: 'What are you doing?' Messages are limited to 140 characters and people can 'follow' twitters on their mobiles or computers.
Neil MacLennan, from the Church of Scotland, who will be twittering throughout the General Assembly said: 'Following the General Assembly is a great way to keep an eye in real-time on the Assembly discussions, especially if you can't get there. I'm looking forward to sharing my tweets about the Assembly debates and reading the tweets of others.'
