Edinburgh to London sponsored cycle to raise Kirk cash

A GROUP of cyclists are to pedal from Edinburgh to London to raise funds for renovating their church hall.

Tomorrow morning (24 June) five members from Crown Court Church of Scotland in London will embark on their 400 mile trek down south.

Church of Scotland Moderator, Right Reverend Bill Hewitt, will wave them off as they begin their journey from the Kirk's headquarters on George Street.

The hardy five aim to compete the trip in four days, and it is hoped they will be joined by other congregation members for the final leg through London on Saturday.

Funds are needed to refurbish the Crown Court church hall, as it celebrates its centenary.

Organisers hope to raise over £75,000 throughout the year by holding a variety of special events.

Ends.

Note to News Desks
