Kirk reacts to torture collusion of British security forces

The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2009 affirmed that the use of torture or 'enhanced interrogation' is to be deplored under any circumstance.

Rev Ian Galloway, Convener of the Church and Society Council of the Church of Scotland, said: "We therefore express serious concern that there might have been collusion of British security forces in the treatment of Binyam Mohammed, which has been deemed to be 'at the very least cruel, inhuman and degrading'.

"We would urge the British Government to set an example, and to repudiate all forms for interrogation which degrade the humanity of any person."
