CrossReach to 'reluctantly' close care home
IT IS with much regret that CrossReach, the social care arm of the Church of Scotland, in consultation with Glasgow Learning Disability Partnership (GLDP), has decided to close Florentine House.
The facility, a residential care home for adults with learning disabilities in Glasgow's southside, will close on 14 June 2010.
CrossReach's director of Adult Care Services, Calum Murray, said: "We have had to inform our staff and the relatives of service users that, due to financial pressures, we can no longer provide the service at Florentine House.
"While the service meets the National Care Standards, the building is outdated and requires significant investment. The global financial situation has affected our ability as a charity to fund such investment to assure the quality we insist upon.
"However, the good news is that service users' needs remain paramount for both CrossReach and GLDP and our respective staff have commenced work with services users and relatives to make suitable alternative arrangements for the continuing care and support of service users.
"To this end, further meetings with relatives are planned. This will ensure a seamless transition is effected in full consultation with all stakeholders."
Ends.
