The Moderator

The Right Rev David Lunan is the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland from May 2008 to May 2009.

August to October

21 August

The Moderator chairs the Commission of Assembly at Palmerston Place Church, Edinburgh.

23 August - 1 September

A visit to Kirkcaldy Presbytery and then on to a Candidate's conference, where the Moderator will lead a session with the group.

2 September

The Moderator and his wife will be guests of Lord Dean of Guild at a lunch at the Merchants House of Glasgow.

5 - 6 September

The Moderator will address the National Youth Assembly on the first day, and the following day will address the Guild Annual Meeting, both in Dundee.

7 - 10 September

Both the Moderator and Mrs Lunan will travel to Lampeter to attend the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Wales.

14 September

A service will be held at St Andrew's and St George's for Edinburgh City Centre Local Ecumenical Parish Grouping, at which the Moderator will preach.

15 - 16 September

The Moderator will attend dinner at the House of Lords, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Boys' Brigade, and the next day will host a lunch at the Moderator's flat.

18 September

After leading prayers at a full Council meeting at Edinburgh City Council, the Moderator will hold a meeting about the Church's HIV/AIDS project.

19 September

The Moderator will attend a conference on the 'Use and Re-use of Rural Church Buildings' in Glasgow, organised by the Church Buildings Renewal Trust.

24 - 25 September

A lunch will be hosted at the Moderator's flat, and the following day the Moderator will be a guest at Bibleworld.

28 September

In the morning, the Moderator will preach at Alloway and in the evening will attend Dalry's 400th anniversary.

3 October

A visit to the State Hospital at Carstairs, spending time with the Chaplaincy team.

5 October

In the morning the Moderator will attend Lochwinnoch's bi-centenary and in the afternoon will visit the YMCA in Paisley for the centenary of their purpose built facilities there.

6 October

The Moderator will meet religious leaders at the Scottish Inter Faith Council.
