The General Assembly

The Assembly Hall

INTRODUCTION

The General Assembly, which meets each year in Edinburgh, has the authority to make laws determining how the Church of Scotland operates. It also is the highest court of the Church (the other courts being the kirk session and the presbytery) in which cases can be heard in matters of litigation.

The 2008 General Assembly will open on Thursday 15 May and close on Wednesday 21 May 2008. A full guide to the proceedings is available here.

Photograph of the Black and White Corridor Press releases issued during the General Assembly will be available by clicking here. You will also be able to access speeches and biographies and reports as they are made available, along with a daily agenda for each day of the week.
