Support and Services Council

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Church of Scotland Support and Services Council extranet area where you will find information about and resources and minutes, where available, from the six autonomous committees of the council which report directly to the General Assembly.

These committees are:

  • The Assembly Arrangements Committee, which makes all the arrangements for the annual General Assembly and advises the Moderator on his or her official duties.
  • The Central Services Committee which includes Office Management, the Media Relations Unit, Law and IT departments and the General Treasurer's Department. The Human Resources Department, the central employing agency of the Church of Scotland, is also represented in this committee.
  • The Ecumenical Relations Committee advises the General Assembly on matters of policy affecting ecumenical relations and works together with others to foster unity and encourage an ecumenical vision in Scotland and beyond.
  • The Legal Questions Committee which advises the General Assembly on queries of Church law and constitutional law, suggested changes to remits and the interpretation and preparations of proposed legislation.
  • The Safeguarding Office which leads in child protection training.
  • The Stewardship and Finance Committee which teaches, promotes and encourages Christian stewardship throughout the Church and allocates the expenditure in the Church's Co-ordinated Budget.
