LINKING WORLDWIDE: MIDDLE EAST AND CENTRAL ASIA
Spotlight on... Israel and Palestine
Situation overview

Giving hope to love through action
|
Day-by-day reports from the Middle
East tell of a fresh round of reprisals in the long-running
conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. Hopes
are raised only to be dashed as some new outrage
expresses the fear and anger which fill many hearts.
Amidst the spiraling hostility, Christian churches
seek to be a force for reconciliation. Often they
have spoken out for justice and peace. Yet in a
conflict which runs so deep, words are a currency
of limited value. If the love of Christ is to be
communicated, it must be through action. |
| Today in Galilee, the area at the
heart of Jesus’ ministry, the Church of Scotland
can be justifiably proud of its investment. Today,
through its institutions, the work of the Church
of Scotland in Israel is in full swing – the
Church and St Andrew's Scottish Guest House in Jerusalem,
the Scot’s Hotel in Tiberias and Tabeetha
School in Jaffa. |

Our mission partners
Our mission partners in Israel and Palestine are: Jane
Barron, minister at St Andrew's Memorial Church in Jerusalem
and Jeneffer Zielinski, programme director at St Andrew's
Memorial Church in Jerusalem and St Andrew's Church of
Scotland in Galilee. Our partner church is the Episcopal
Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East.
Visit for a truly rewarding experience
Travelling to Israel is a really rewarding experience.
Why not visit us there? The Church of Scotland is not
just the buildings or the property we own in Israel, or
even the people who work there on behalf of the Church.
The Church of Scotland is you and your neighbour sitting
beside you in the pew. It is you
the Christian community in Israel and in Palestine want
to meet, whether in a group or as individuals. The living
stones wants to tell their story face to face and they
need your support through your presence.
 |
Israel and Palestine may not immediately jump
into mind when you are thinking of a holiday.
However, think of such a visit more as honouring
a commitment to a people struggling to maintain
their faith in the face of enormous pressures.
The appreciation you will receive for having taken
the effort may very well strengthen your own faith,
it certainly does for them.
Think about it, pray about it! Come on your own;
come as a group; perhaps even persuade your minister!
