World Church Teams

Building a World Church Team can be a really rewarding experience for a whole congregation. You could:
Help us support fairtrade: a carpenter at work
  • bring the world dimension to worship;
  • identify projects to support;
  • promote the Fairtrade Church initiative;
  • campaign for justice for the world’s poor;
  • develop a partnership with congregations around the world.
The team can be small or large and include different roles. Detailed descriptions of these roles are provided in the World Church Team fact sheet below. Teamwork is a vital role in the development of World Mission and we really value your help. If you have questions or would like to get involved visit out contact page.

Stamp recycling

Collecting used stamps raises several thousands of pounds every year. British first-class and second-class stamps and even international stamps are gathered together and sent to us. We then sell them to collectors. All the money we raise is used to support the work of a project around the world. The project this year is in North India.

Kalimpong School pupils

In India, many young girls have dropped out of mainstream education, due to financial hardship, gender or caste discrimination. The Scottish University Missionaries Institution in Kalimpong has helped a few of these young girls return to school and continue their education - despite it being a boys school!

Our challenge is to support the school, which is an institution of the Church of North India's Diocese of the Eastern Himalayas, deliver first class education for these young girls.

You can help improve their quality of life, education and development potential simply by collecting your used stamps and sending them to:

Nikki Skinner, Stamp Centre, World Mission, Church of Scotland, 121 George Street, Edinburgh.

To get started, download our stamp recycling factsheet which includes some helpful hints. There is also a free poster about the campaign which you can download from our resources page here, or order by emailing us here or by visiting our contacts page.

Previous year's projects:

In 2007, £2057 was raised which benefited children in Chinese orphanages with physical or mental disabilities. This was done through the work of Amity and the Scottish Churches China Group.

In 2006, almost £2000 was raised to support the Church of Bangladesh's Golden Jubilee Project which looks after elderly people who have been abandoned by their families.
