Connecting
with the world |
|
Our work and remit
The World Mission Council is the channel through which
the Church of Scotland responds to the command of Jesus:
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to
all creation" (Mark 16:15).
We work in countries around the world, usually on the
basis of partnership with local churches and institutions
and always with a view to involving church members in
Scotland in the development of the work. The cultivation
of two-way partnerships between congregations overseas
and congregations in Scotland is not only a matter of
creating friendships but expanding horizons.
|
It is a way of giving
effect to the great themes which mark the Church’s
engagement with the world at this time: evangelism,
reconciliation and combating poverty.
By making
these connections, you will make a difference. |

Working in partnership
across the world |
This year’s World Mission Stamp Appeal is raising money to support an outreach programme among the Roma people organised by our partner church in the Czech Republic. The Roma people are a minority who live on the edges of Czech society and they are subject to various forms of discrimination and prejudice, suffering from poverty and a lack of educational opportunities.
