How Partner Plan works: Each presbytery has one or more mission partners attached to it. This allocation depends on the number of congregations within each presbytery. The current ratio is generally one mission partner to every 15 congregations within a presbytery. The Assistant Secretary (Local Development), in consultation with World Mission’s presbytery convener, allocates a mission partner to individual congregations. Each congregation should appoint a Partner Plan correspondent who is to ensure that regular news of the congregation's activities and the community is sent to on the mission partner. The Partner Plan correspondent will be sent six copies of each Partner Plan letter that is received from the mission partner. These letters should provide the congregation with an insight into events overseas and will often include prayer points. These should be distributed to interested individuals within the Church, notably the minister, those writing to the mission partner and any other supporters. It is a good idea to publish part, or all, of the letter to inform the wider church. Extracts should also, when possible, be given in a 'minute for mission' slot in church services. The commitment: Partner Plan is a vital scheme. It provides support, encouragement, news and above all prayer for the work of our Mission Partners overseas. We therefore urge congregations to: Pray regularly for their mission partners and the church in which they serve * Take opportunities of learning more about the country their mission partner works in through reading, videos, television, radio, the internet, meeting nationals, and by visiting ‘Linking Worldwide’ on our website. * Be open to the ideas and attitudes of Christians of other countries which may stimulate and challenge mission in this country * Meet their Mission and Aid Fund target as their main financial support of the Church's involvement in World Mission.
