Gifts for God
Gifts for God is a flexible
approach to promoting Christian stewardship in congregations.
At various stages of the programme congregations make
choices to suit their situations and meet their own particular
needs. This programme reflects on God’s giving and
challenges us to give to God. It may encourage our giving
of time, talent and money, or it may only be concerned
with money.
 |
The programme also poses questions
of what is your congregation's objective, what event
will be the centre piece of your programme and how
will you contact the people in your congregation
to invite them to the main event? |
Alongside these choices are the core ingredients essential
in any Christian stewardship programme:
- commitment and enthusiasm from all office-bearers,
and particularly from those who will form the planning
group;
- prayer to remind us that we are working with God
and need his strength and direction;
- careful preparation and training to ensure the smooth
running of the programme;
- teaching Christian giving as a response to God's
giving as a means of sharing the Gospel through the
worship, mission and service of the Church;
- imaginative material to communicate the message;
- responses from all the people in the congregations;
and
- thanksgiving to God for his help and support with
the programme and for his spirit moving the people
to better giving and greater involvement.
