RURAL STRATEGY TEAM: CONFERENCE 2006
Rural Church Conference, Friday 3 to Saturday 4 November
2006
The conference entitled Affirming,
Supporting and Resourcing the Rural Church will
be held at the Scottish
Police College, Tulliallan, Kincardine-on-Forth, Fife
from 12 noon on Friday 3 November until 2pm on Saturday
4 November 2006. The purpose of the conference
is:
- to affirm, support and resource the rural church;
- to highlight the inter-relationship between national,
regional and local networks;
- to provide an occasion to share together.
The keynote speaker at the event will be the Rev Professor
Leslie Francis, professor of practical theology and
director of The Centre for Studies in Rural Ministry
at the University of Wales. He will speak on on the
theme The Rural Church: Reflections
on its Contemporary Ministry and Mission. In
addition, Professor Francis will be in attendance throughout
the conference to act as facilitator and to offer further
reflections and comments.
The content of the programme also includes contributions
from a Scottish perspective, with input from ministers
and others engaged day by day as practitioners in rural
ministry. The Mission and Discipleship Council has invited
presbyteries to send representatives, reserving up to
two places for those that are ‘rural’ in
character and a single place for all other presbyteries.
