The Guild's work, and the themes and topics it looks at each year, brings it into contact with many issues and organisations. The following list is a compilation of handy links to these organisations, which you may find useful. This list will be added to from time-to-time; it is not exhaustive, so if you require any further information on the Guild's work, then do email here.

Scottish Women's Convention

  • The Guild has a seat on the newly-established steering group of the Scottish Women's Convention. Lorna Paterson, former Guild general secretary, was appointed its first chair. One of its first tasks was to provide comments on the Stringer Report into Improving the position of women in Scotland.
  • The Guild is closely involved with all the work of the SWC - currently also the chair of its Violence against Women group.
  • SWC policy groups are open to all who are interested. Find out more via this link.

Arms Control

  • Reflecting the Guilds continuing and long-standing concern with violence against women, this is a joint initiative by Amnesty International; the International Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and Oxfam, this website enables you to join in the call for a global reduction in the arms trade.

On the wings of a dove

  • As part of the Decade to Overcome Violence, On the wings of a dove is a worldwide campaign initiated by the World Council of Churches (WCC) to engage people in developing practical and pastoral responses to overcome violence against women and children. WCC material is available at this site, and Guild resources will be available here shortly.

National Commission for Social Care

  • An inter church group representing major Christian churches and organisations in Scotland has produced an information and training pack to raise awareness on issues of domestic abuse. By using this link, you will be able to download No Exceptions, a faith perspective on the Myths and Realities of Domestic Abuse.

  • A previously recommended resource in our theme guide, Dare to Care with Courage, this site offers views on religion as it relates to everyday life.

World Day of Prayer

  • The World Day of Prayer for 2009 has been prepared by the women of Papua New Guinea, with the theme "In Christ there are many members but one body". It will be held on Friday 6 March 2009.
