PROJECTS 2009 to 2012: MINISTRIES COUNCIL - A PLACE
FOR HOPE - UK
Background
Conflict is an inescapable part of life, whether in Church or in wider society. The Ministries Council has been highlighting the need to work in partnership with others to help individuals, congregations and communities resolve their differences and restore relationships.
 |
As part of this, we are looking to establish an ecumenical
Centre for Reconciliation and Peacemaking – A
Place for Hope – in Scotland. Through this, churches
can begin to re-establish their role within society
as peacemakers and healers. A Place for Hope will help
people to address conflict within the Church and beyond.
|
Where sectarianism divides, neighbourhoods struggle
with racial division, grinding poverty highlights social
inequality, families torn apart by violence, A Place
for Hope will offer resources for healing, reconciliation
and lasting change. Through this project, the good news
of Jesus Christ as reconciler, mediator and peacemaker
can bring hope to our churches and communities in life-changing
ways.
