World Communion of Reformed Churches
Following the Uniting General Council that gave birth
to the World Communion of Reformed Churches in early
July in Grand Rapids, USA, the Council produced a twin
message. The main message is followed by a message to
children. The Council has requested that the message
be used during worship in all congregations on Reformation
Sunday - 31 October 2010. The children's message can
also be used in worship and/or Sunday schools at any
appropriate occasion.

The Uniting Council adopted a Statement on Spiritual
and Worship Renewal. It is commended as a resource for
churches as we all seek to ask God to renew us and to
revitalise our worship.

Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows and Liturgy
In 2007 the Joint Commission on Doctrine of the Church
of Scotland and the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland
produced a study booklet entitled Baptism: Catholic
and Reformed.
The Joint Commission has since commissioned a Liturgy
for the Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows as a resource
for all churches for use on appropriate ecumenical occasions.
The production of the Liturgy reflects the remarkable
breakdown in our understanding of Baptism as the sacrament
that binds us at once to Christ and to one another.
Ideally, it should be used in conjunction with the study
booklet and a short PowerPoint presentation which gives
the background to these developments.
For further details or to request a hard copy of the
documents, please email

Our Fellowship in the Gospel
Report of the Joint Faith and Order Working Group
of the Church of England and the Church of Scotland
The text is offered to the General Assembly with the
commendation that it is studied widely throughout the
Church and that steps are taken to implement the recommendations.
This report marks the end of the first phase of discussions
between the two 'national' churches. A second phase
will begin in the autumn which will include the Scottish
Episcopal Church. You can view the full Committee report
