Committee membership

The Ecumenical Relations committee is made up of 18 members, of whom five are nominated by the General Assembly and who are each a member of one of the councils of the Church. The convener is the Rev William Brown.
There are also five co-opted members who have been elected to central/executive committees of ecumenical bodies. The Very Rev Dr Sheilagh Kesting is the Church of Scotland ecumenical officer.

In addition, there are six other members who include the general secretary of Action of Churches Together in Scotland (ACTS), a representative from the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland and a representative from the United Free Church of Scotland. The three additional members are nominated on a rotating basis from:

  • the Congregational Federation
  • the Scottish Episcopal Church
  • the Synod of the Methodist Church in Scotland
  • the Salvation Army
  • the Religious Society of Friends
  • the United Reformed Church
  • and the Baptist Union of Scotland
