HUMAN RESOURCES
History and remit
The Personnel Committee was set up in 1978 on the report
of the Advisory Board to determine salaries, length of
service and conditions generally for secretaries and members
of office staff.
In 1991, and again in 1996, the General Assembly made
some minor adjustments to the remit of the committee.
These included a requirement that the Personnel Committee
should conduct an annual salary review of those members
of staff for which it is the employing agency and act
as the coordinating body for the Church in respect of
terms and conditions for staff.
At the 2001 General Assembly a joint working party's
proposals to set up the Central Co-ordinating Committee
to manage the Church's central administration were accepted.
This committee is now known as the Central Services
Committee and has responsibility for the department,
which was renamed Human Resources at the 2006 General
Assembly.
