Parish Development Fund/Church without Walls SUPPORTED PROJECTS: COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND DEVELOPMENT Community development, the islands of Seil, Luing and Easdale On the islands of Seil, Luing and Easdale in Argyll, Kilbrandon and Kilchattan Church is developing a range of community activities in this remote area through the hub of the kirk office. Watch the supporting video for this project here. [more] “We are a community of three islands and the kirk office is open at present on four mornings per week. We are already seeing the value of having a presence, speaking to people, listening, computer support giving us the chance to share faith in the most practical of ways. Risks? Nothing like this has ever been done before; the digital community project is an impetus for exploring new ways of being community, as well as helping people become computer literate. The rural church is often perceived in the public consciousness as being the backward church. We see the gospel as being a focus for liberation, joy and hope. The Mission 21 process which was part of our response to the Church without Walls report, together with living with the Gospel of Mark for a year – helped to create a climate in which ideas and change could flourish.” To find out more about the community development project on the islands of Seil, Luing and Easdale visit their website.
