Church without Walls DUDDINGSTON KIRK, EDINBURGH Welcoming children to Holy Communion The Worship Group met in August 2003 to start considering how children might be integrated into communion services. The kirk session had already approved in principle permission for children to receive communion, subject to approval from their parents and the minister. The Worship Group is now attempting to address how this principle might become a reality in practice. We are aware of some of the potential pitfalls, such as the danger of some children feeling excluded if their peers are receiving communion and they are not. We would welcome any ideas from churches that have already successfully integrated children into communion services, or are in the process of doing so.
