We are looking for someone with passion, knowledge and enthusiasm to develop, support and coordinate faith groups working with refugees as part of a joint project with the Scottish Refugee Council (SRC), funded by the EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). You will be involved in networking and building the capacity of local community groups to make a lasting difference for refugee integration - not just at individual level but for the wider community.
With your understanding of asylum and refugee issues, knowledge of the current government policy environment and experience of faith communities in Scotland, you will have the ability to inspire, enthuse and influence individuals and groups in supporting the effective integration of refugees in line with the Scottish Government’s ‘New Scots Refugee Integration Strategy 2018 – 2022’.
You will work closely with the soon-to-be-appointed Regional Integration Co-ordinators (Scottish Refugee Council) and Scottish Faiths Action for Refugees (SFAR) and will design and deliver information/training sessions to local faith groups, ecumenical and interfaith forums. You will take the lead on developing a volunteer holiday hosting programme, where members of receiving communities can welcome New Scots in their homes for short breaks and receive reciprocal hospitality.
Interview date: week commencing 29 October 2018
