The Moderator's diary
During their year in office, the Moderator visits two Church of Scotland Presbyteries; travels to partner churches overseas; represents the Church of Scotland on historic and national occasions; supports the work of Committees, congregations and organisations; and meets with interfaith and ecumenical bodies.
Below are details of the engagements in the moderatorial diary this month.
- 1 April 2024
The Moderator will visit Dornoch Distillery, where a cask of whisky will be set aside, to be sold at the future celebrations of 800 years of worship in Dornoch Cathedral in 2039. All profits from the limited edition cask will be donated to the Cathedral. Mrs Foster-Fulton will then visit the Flower Festival being set up in the Cathedral, to mark the 800th anniversary of the first stones of the building being laid.

The Moderator will travel to Jamaica and participate in an ecumenical pilgrimage to learn about the legacy of slavery. Themed around repairing relationships, there will be an emphasis on spiritual reconciliation, as well as meetings with partner churches, the country's Prime Minister and other prominent politicians.

The Moderator will meet with the Church of Scotland’s Chief Officer.
- 23 April 2024 - 24 April 2024
The Moderator will visit the Scottish Parliament. Mrs Foster-Fulton’s time in Holyrood will include meetings with representatives of the five political parties, leading Time for Reflection, presenting the gift of a lectern Bible to the Presiding Officer, and preaching at a service for the Parliament community.
- 25 April 2024
The Moderator will meet with Neil Gray MSP (Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care) to highlight the issue of fair pay for Social Care workers.
- 26 April 2024
The Moderator will join a discussion panel at a public gathering conversation event held in the Trades Hall in Glasgow, where Fr Gabriel Romanell, parish priest of the Holy Family Church in Gaza, will be the keynote speaker.
- 28 April 2024
The Moderator will be the guest preacher at Canongate and St Giles' united evening service.
- 29 April 2024
The Moderator will meet with two representatives of the Free Church of Scotland, its Moderator and Mission Director.
- 30 April 2024
The Moderator will host a gathering of women holding leadership positions in the arts, politics, business, third sector and faith and belief groups, to discuss how to work together to support gender equality.
