Communications Department

The Communications Department is responsible for liaising with the media, internal communications, design services and the Church's website.

Media

The department facilitates quick and effective liaison between the Church and the print and broadcast media. The department's media relations team answer numerous phone calls daily from journalists looking for information or comments about Church-related subjects and matters of national or international importance.  They also issue news releases during the year to newspapers, magazines, television newsrooms and radio stations on a range of topics, current issues or news items.

The department offers guidance and support on proactive and reactive media work to ministers and Church officials and produces Good News, a monthly online resource with images and information for local parish newsletters and website editors.

Design services

Our in-house designers provide a high-quality design, layout and print management service to the Church of Scotland. producing many of its publications, leaflets and magazines. 

Website

The webteam is responsible for maintaining and developing the Church's main website, and updating the information which comes from the Church's councils, committees and departments.  The website currently receives over 644,000 visits each year from around 214 countries, a number which has been gradually increasing since the website was originally launched in 2000. On average, we have about 1500 unique visitors a day, although this rises to over 9000 during the General Assembly.
