PARLIAMENTARY OFFICE
The Scottish Churches' Parliamentary Office (SCPO) was
created by Scotland's churches, including the Church of
Scotland, to help us build fruitful relationships with
the Scottish Parliament and Executive.
 |
In a distinctive way, the churches
are part of Scottish civic life; together, we played
a significant part in the movement which created
the Scottish Parliament. |
Our commitment to the well-being of the nation and its
people has continued in the new political scene.
We are also active in every kind of community in Scotland,
in ways ranging from personal caring and support, to
a wide variety of local and national projects. As we
care and listen, we learn, and we have a strong record
of building on that, through tough thinking and faithful
reflection.

The Scottish Parliament debating chamber
Through our contributions and reflections we share
concerns for the people of Scotland. Through the SCPO,
updates and briefings to parliamentarians, to the churches,
and bringing people together for dialogue are carried
out. Often, this is done in partnership with others
in Scottish civil society.
The Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office, which remains
an ecumenical body, enables the Church of Scotland,
as a founding member, to
- engage effectively in the new political process;
- translate our commitment to the welfare of Scotland
into parliamentary debate; and
- contribute the range and depth of our experience,
and our faith reflection on that, to the decision-making
process.
