Speedbumps and Potholes is a collection of Scriptural insights into today’s world, by the Right Rev. Nick Baines. Nick is a very gifted writer and we are proud to publish his books, including Marking Time (a daily study of Mark’s Gospel for each day of Lent, Easter and Holy Week) and Jesus and People Like Us, in which Nick shows that the disciples – the twelve chosen by Jesus – were everyday people like we would meet today. Look out for his forthcoming book Hungry for Hope.

Mole Under the Fence: conversations with Roland Walls is an acclaimed book in which Ron Ferguson and Mark Chater discuss a wide range of fascinating topics with Roland Walls. This is a valuable book as Roland Walls, who influenced so many, rarely wrote down his thoughts. My Father – Reith of the BBC is the story of the tortured genius Lord Reith. Seen through the keen eyes of his daughter, Marista, Reith’s personality is brought into the open. The BBC, Reith’s great legacy to the world, was influenced by Reith’s Presbyterian upbringing. The Religious Broadcasting unit, for example, was placed at the heart of Broadcasting House. Reith’s great powers of oratory sprang from his years of study of his father’s preaching technique. A truly remarkable story, nominated for the 2007 Saltire Society Literary Awards.

Deadline: the story of the Scottish press is Harry Reid’s affectionate look at the power, importance and, perhaps, decline of the Scottish newspaper industry. With typical insight, Harry gets to the heart of the matter. The book is full of stories and anecdotes about the people, the stars, the scoops, the deadlines.
