The Moderator

The Right Rev David Lunan is the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland from May 2008 to May 2009.

January - February 2009

12 January

Return from holiday.

13 January

The Moderator and Mrs Lunan will lead a session at the Church without Walls Re-Energise conference in Aviemore, which is on the theme 'Coming Home 2009?' He will also travel to Inverness to take part in the first of a series of regional consultations on the Ministry of Health and Healing.

14 January

The Moderator will preach at a service of thanksgiving marking the centenary of Kincardine West Parish Church.

16 - 26 January
Visit to Presbytery of Annandale and Eskdale

16 January

The Moderator will attend Communion at Gretna Old, St Andrew's Parish Church in the evening.

17 January

Retreat at Lockerbie Manor.

18 January

Visits to Kirkpatrick Juxta lw Moffat: St Andrew's linked with Wamphray in the morning, and in the evening to Applegarth, Sibbaldbie and Johnstone linked lw Lochmaben and Dalton lw Hightae lw St. Mungo, in Lochmaben.

19 January

The Moderator will visit Langholm Primary School in the morning, and the Buccleugh Centre and Westerkirk Church and library in the afternoon.

20 January

In the morning, the Moderator will visit Burnfoot Home and Hoddam Estate, and then attend Carlisle Cathedral, One World Shop and Church House in the afternoon.

21 - 22 January

A visit to Gretna Green on 21 January, and on 22 January to Lockerbie Academy and Steven's Croft Biomass Power Station. In the evening the Moderator will attend Canonbie United Parish Church with the Moderator of the United Free Church of Scotland for a rededication of the building.

23 January

The Moderator will attend a morning service at Annan Hospital, and a Guild meeting in the evening at Lochmaben Centre.

24 January

In the evening, attending a youth event at St Andrew's, Gretna.

25 January

The Moderator will attend a service at Lockerbie Dryfesdale, Hutton and Corrie Church in the morning, and Annan Old lw Dornock and Annan St. Andrew's lw Brydekirk in the evening.

27 - 29 January

A visit to the Scottish Parliament, focussing on the launch of the 'Growing up in Scotland' report. In the evening, the Moderator will attend a Holocaust Memorial event in Paisley, and on the 28th, will lead Time for Reflection, and meet the First Minister and other party leaders.

30 January

The Moderator will be a guest at the Royal College of Surgeons' triennial dinner.

31 January

Attending the launch of the Church's 'Threads' DVD, a resource on aspects of church life.

1 February

The Moderator will preach at Fernhill and Cathkin Church.

5 February

The Moderator will attend a Health and Healing consultation in Aberdeen.

6 - 8 February

A visit to Aberdeen, with a lunchtime service on Friday with students at Christ's College and a Presbytery service in the evening. On Sunday, the Moderator will attend a Founders and Benefactors service at University Chapel.

9 February

The Moderator will attend a Health and Healing consultation in Glasgow.

12 February

The Moderator will be a guest speaker at an Edinburgh Rotary meeting.

14 February

The Moderator will be an overnight guest of Sir Muir Russell, Principal of Glasgow University, prior to preaching in the University Chapel on Sunday morning.
