A guide to the Media Relations Unit

Based in the Church Offices in Edinburgh, the Media Relations Unit facilitates quick and effective liaison between the Church and the print and broadcast media. The unit’s experienced staff answer numerous phone calls daily from journalists looking for information or for comments about Church-related subjects and matters of national or international importance.

More than 130 press releases have been circulated over the past year to newspapers, magazines, television newsrooms and radio stations. Among topics covered were:

  • world debt
  • homelessness
  • cloning
  • the Middle East crisis
  • ecumenical issues
  • youth matters
  • education
  • Moderator’s presbytery visits
  • Guild international projects
  • civil partnerships
  • congregational anniversaries.

Media relations staff offer guidance and support on proactive and reactive media work to ministers and Church officials. The unit is also responsible for the maintenance and development of this website. Click here for more information about our website.
